Tonko Nonau, provincial radio director, PNG
My name is Tonko Nonau. I’m the NBC provincial director radio based here in Kavieng, New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea. I’d like to commend Radio Australia for the programs they’ve been producing over the years. It has been very education. Most of the programs that were sent to our local station have all been broadcast and it has been very educational programs received by our people in the communities. They’ve also commended. They’ve learnt a lot on what has been produced.
You know some of the problems being faced here in Papua New Guinea is also the same within the other parts of the Pacific, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and so those programs have been helpful. For example like Famili Blong Serah, some of the domestic problems, the violence that are faced in the homes, have also been educational and it has helped a lot, has helped people in the rural areas. And also programs like the environmental programs, you know it has been very helpful.
With that I’d like to commend Radio Australia for those good programs they’ve produced over the years which have helped us when we don’t have any programs to put on air, we’ve allocated air time to these programs which has been very helpful and also very educational to our people in the communities in New Ireland province.
And so with that I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Radio Australia happy 70th anniversary and we hope to continue the cordial relationship that we have with Radio Australia and NBC New Ireland in Papua New Guinea. Good luck and may God bless you all.
