‘Bigger effort’ needed to understand Asia: Former Australian diplomat

This week Australian Prime Minsister Julia Gillard delivered a major foreign policy speech emphasising the importance of Asia in the next hundred years.
One man who’s seen the shift in power from West to East is Philip Flood, one of Australia’s most experienced diplomats.
He’s been the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, an ambassador to Indonesia between 1989 and 1993 and high commissioner to the UK.
Philip Flood has just released his memoirs called ‘Dancing with Warriers: A Diplomatic Memoir’.
