Childhood obesity and diabetes increasing in India

It seems not even India is immune to the problem of childhood obesity and diabetes. According to health experts, the children of India’s middle classes are growing rapidly and obesity and diabetes are the outcome.
Some 51 million people in India have diabetes. Dr Anoop Misra is president of the Center for Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Disorders in New Delhi. He told Tracee Hutchison that the incidence of diabetes has the potential to cost the Indian economy some US$32 billion.
