Landmark immigration ruling for Hong Kong’s domestic helpers

The High Court ruling is being hailed as a landmark decision for the nearly 300,000 foreign maids, known a locally as domestic helpers, who are employed in Hong Kong. Most are from the Philippines and Indonesia.
The challenge was lodged by a long-time domestic helper from the Philippines, Evangeline Vallejos, who has worked and lived in Hong Kong since 1986.
Tracee Hutchison asked her lawyer, Mark Daly, about the significance of the court’s decision.
