The murder of three Australian soldiers in Afghanistan on the weekend will increase tension in an already fraught situation according to a specialist in diplomatic issues.

Three soldiers were killed and seven others were injured by an Afghan man they were helping to train. Dr William Maley is the director of the Asia Pacific College of Diplomacy in Canberra.

He says the incident demonstrates how difficult it is to know your enemy in Afghanistan. He told Phil Kafcaloudes that there’s no doubt tensions will be high amongst Australian troops based there.
