Every day we hear a new or developing story about mining and minerals exploration. Concerns about coal seam gas exploration in Australia or the proposed deep sea mine off the coast of PNG, are set against the assertion that the mineral booms has saved Australia from the financial woes faced by many other countries in the world.

A new book by investigative journalist Matthew Benns takes a look at the activities of Australian mining companies in Australia and overseas – and the picture he paints isn’t pretty.

Presenter: Heather Jarvis

Speaker: Matthew Benns, journalist & author of “Dirty Money – The True Cost of Australia’s Mineral Boom” (Random House)
