Chinese Malaysians and Singaporeans celebrate the New Year with a dish that isn’t common in Chinese communities anywhere else in the world. Yee Sang is a fish salad served as an appetiser and tossed with great ceremony at family reunion dinners.
Yee Sang symbolises good luck for Chinese families and is the most important part of a New Year meal for these cultures.
