Australia is a prime destination for human trafficking despite efforts to crack down on the industry. Many women from Asia are lured by better pay and conditions, only to find themselves in a very different situation once arriving in the country.
Asian sex workers are in high demand and the courts have found it difficult to prosecute those found responsible for human trafficking. The author of Sex Trafficking – The Dark Side of the Australian Sex Industry says it’s a complex issue and cannot be seen in black and white terms.
