East Timor’s President Seeks Second TermAudio Icon

Jose Ramos Horta has announced he’ll be contesting East Timor’s presidential election in March this year.

The nobel peace laureate, who previously served as the country’s Prime Minister, today announced his plan to seek another 5 year term, after he was presented with a petition signed by motre than 100-thousand East Timorese.

The country’s Prime Minister, Xanana Gusmao, has yet to announce which candidate he will support – but former military commander Lu Olo is a strong candidate for the Fretlin party… one of several candidates expected to poll strongly in the March polls…
