Papua New Guinea’s cricket team may be racked 19th in the world. But they’re formidable enough for a Melbourne club to fortify its team with outsiders, ahead of a charity match this weekend.

A brave Hawthorn Cricket Club says it wants more challenges like this in the future. And it’s also hoping the event in Melbourne will attract donations of used cricket equipment to be sent to PNG to develop the game there.

Hawthorn Cricket Club’s David Hayden and Papua New Guinean wicket keeper, Jack Vare previewed the event for Clement Paligaru.

Presenter: Clement Paligaru

Speakers: David Hayden, Hawthorn Cricket Club & Jack Vare, award winning PNG wicket keeper.
