Rugby tackle for cyber crime in the PacificAudio Icon

The Australian Federal Police is joining forces with rugby stars and regional police to fight the growing threat of cyber crime in the region.

The new intitiative called Cyber Safety Pasifika has been launched because there’s evidence that Pacific Islanders are embracing the internet at a rate almost twice that of the rest of the world. With this rapid uptake comes unprecedented risk of online exploitation.

Commander Grant Edwards from the Australian Federal Police told Clement Paligaru the initiative is playing particular attention to social networking, identity theft, the vulnerability of young people and online “predators’.
