And if there has been a mistake, we make a correction and apologise.

Fiji faces suspension from Pacific Islands Forum

This weekend Fiji’s interim government looks like it will be suspended from the Pacific Islands Forum over its refusal to hold elections, the first time a member nation has ever been suspended.
A suspension would prevent it from being involved in forum activities and it also would miss out on technical and financial assistance.
Suspension would also cause major problems for the Forum, which has based its operations in Fiji’s capital Suva.
Pacific Correspondent Campbell Cooney examines the question of suspension and the possible repercussions.
