Singapore’s economic ups and downs

This week, Singapore became the first Asian economy currently in recession to record positive economic growth.

In fact, the economy surged over 20 per cent during the 2nd quarter, defying the expectations of even the most optimistic analysts.

But the GFC isn’t over yet and it’s impact in prosperous Singapore has been particularly notable amount young aspirational professionals.

Our correspondent this week is Radio Australia’s Girish Sawlani, who was born and raised in Singapore and recently returned to find a significant change in mood.
